The Girls in ICT International Telecommunication Union (ITU) backed initiative is a global effort to raise awareness on empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing fields of ICTs.
Asikana Network, ZICTA and the Ministry of General Education with other collaborators held the annual event on 27-28 April, 2017. With an aim to include those dwelling outside the cities, the event was hosted at Kapiri Girls Technical School, targeted schools in all 11 districts of Central Province and attracted over 170 girls.
We had an exciting and informative day, with Asikana Network members conducting interactive learning sessions, career guidance, keeping the girls on their toes and answering every question imaginable!
The participants showcased their various innovative and ICT initiated projects, and the winners were awarded (Way to go GIRLS).
Thank you to all who collaborated and participated! Asikana network members often drive, volunteer and contribute their time, knowledge and experience at such events. If you are interested in getting involved, please fill this short join form.
